What is trending in the world of fashion this summer?
This year's summer trend is all about 'beachy chic'. We're talking classic, sophisticated, and simplistic styles paired with contrasting light & airy, eclectic boho accents with primarily neutral colors.
Let's explore 10 Trends of Summer together...and as an added bonus, I've put together some Outfit Inspirations for you with mix & match summer styles from The Top 10 Trends List including Apparel and Accessories. Oh, this is going to be fun! Let's go...
1. Sandy Neutrals
Daytime looks focus on warmer tones while brighter color pops are splashed into evening. This is very different from trends we've followed in the past where we'd wear our brightest colors during the day. Tan, beige, khaki, and mocha give us that sandy beachy vibe and offer a neutral base to mix & match a variety of tops and layering pieces.
2. Paperbag Waist
One of the hottest trends this year is paperbag waisted shorts & pants. A few tips on wearing this style: Tuck your top fully into the shorts all the way around. I know many of us are accustomed to the quick & easy "front tuck" but when it comes to paperbag waist styles, you're going to want to take the time to do a full tuck-in on that shirt. Also, choose a top that isn't bulky so that it is easily tucked in and maintains the flattering shape of the shorts and your waist. If you're not a fan of tucking in, opt for a cropped top, or one that falls just above your waist.

3. Wide Leg/Palazzo Pants
Everywhere I look, I'm seeing wide-leg pants this summer. I really like the cropped styles for those of us that are on the shorter side. I pair mine with simple wedges or low-heeled sandals. And much like the paperbag waist styles above, you're going to want to choose tops that can either easily be tucked in or fall just above the waist if your pants have a built-in belt or tie waist feature.

4. Ruffled Tops
If you've been following my blog for a while, you know that when it comes to style, I really don't follow "fashion rules" necessarily. I believe that style is a personal expression and anything goes. But if you're reading and looking for tips, I'm here for you. So when it comes to wearing ruffled tops, you may want to think about balance.
If your top is ruffled, go with a more fitted short, pant, or skirt. If you're not a fan of fitted clothing, that's okay. You can still maintain a balanced look by elongating your silhouette with a longer length skirt rather than a mini skirt. Opt for capri length bottoms or pants rather than shorts when pairing your bottoms with a ruffled top. This will balance your overall look.
But remember, you're your own boss when it comes to personal style. If you want to pair that gorgeous paisley ruffled top with those adorable swing shorts, have at it! I know I'd pair those 2 pieces together without thinking twice.

5. Eyelet Fabric
This year we're seeing a lot of tops in the eyelet fabric. Eyelet fabric is light and airy, making it perfect for hot summer days. Eyelet is made with tiny holes in the fabric - allowing air to pass through. This breathable feature will surely keep eyelet tops on our Top 10 list for a while, for sure.

6. Light Layers
The easy breezy kimonos and light layers of the boho days are back this summer. We're seeing them in all sorts of prints and solids. One of my personal favorites is the Secret Garden Floral Kimono with its paisley print and subtle hints of blue mixed with warm beige & tan on lavender. Look closely and you'll notice this one has ruffled sleeve accents, checking off two boxes on our summer fashion trends list!

7. Grecian/Halter Necklines
Grecian & Halter Necklines are very popular this year. We're seeing them everywhere and in all kinds of fabrics, prints, and solids. The exposed shoulders are very flattering and will keep you cool during the day and offer a romantic summer vibe for the evening. This Paisley Tie Back Style pictured below is one of my favorites:

8. Jewel Tones
I remember the years when dressing for summer meant wearing the brightest color from your closet. Although this year is focused more on daytime neutrals, we are seeing pops of color - just more in our evening looks rather than daytime. Specifically, jewel tones that you can find in nature - including amber, clay, brick, aquamarine, teal, and emerald are all colors we're pairing with those tan & beige daytime basics to create outfits that transition well into summer evenings.

9. Simple Bags
This year's summer bags are very different from those we've seen in years past. We're seeing simpler monochromatic styles rather than bold colorful prints. The focus is more on texture & material like straw, crochet lace, and canvas. When it comes to your bag this summer, think simple & solid. This will give you plenty of options to mix & match your bag with all of your summer outfits to get that 'beachy chic' look we're talking about.

10. Wrap Bracelets
After all this, if you feel like you need just a little something extra to really pull the whole 'beachy chic' vibe together, add a wrap bracelet! Wrap bracelets are fun, earthy, and add a layer of interest to your overall look.
