WHY THE NAME
My name is Rebecca. My husband is Derek. As we’ll share later on in Our Story, we are inseparable – so much so that our friends & family rarely refer to us as “Rebecca” or “Derek”. Instead, they refer to us as a unit or one…we are “derbecca”.

This is where the name of our boutique comes from. It comes from us – Derek&Rebecca. Together, we are derbecca. When you shop with derbecca, you are shopping with us.
OUR STORY
Long before derbecca ‘the boutique’ was born, there was derbecca ‘the love story’.
Derek&I met in the year 2000 and got married in 2015.
When Derek&I met, I had already married my childhood sweetheart, finished college, and started my career in corporate finance. He, too, was married to his childhood sweetheart. We met while working for the same global security & aerospace defense contractor. I was in finance and he was in project & operations management. In the early years of my career, I started a family. We’ll introduce Anastasia & Alex later on – they get their own section because we think they're just amazing. Derek&I both were divorced by 2010 and later married each other in 2015.

It was later that same year, 2015, while still both working for the same company that we decided to try something new & exciting. I came across a new women’s clothing brand that was like nothing I had ever worn before and I absolutely loved it. Turns out, so did all of my friends. So much so that Derek&I entered into an exclusive agreement with that well-known brand to purchase their clothing at wholesale with the intent to sell it to our friends, family, and local community. We had no idea at the time just how popular this clothing would be. We were both still working our full-time careers while our clothing business was rapidly growing. When the time came to leave our corporate careers to tend to our growing business, we took the leap and haven’t looked back since.
WHO WE ARE . . . really
We are real people. We are parents, we are husband & wife, we are responsible, ethical, and caring people. We value relationships and trust. We work hard and we work smart to make a living and we love what we do. We are passionate about our work and the community we serve. We are “go getters” and rarely stay still. Derek&I both are goal-setters and are driven to make meaningful impacts on the world around us. When we do something, we do it 100% - we give it our all and we do it to the best of our ability. If we don’t know something, we learn it. If we make a mistake, we fix it. If there is a need, we fill it. It’s just what we do.
You may have heard the saying “work hard, play hard” – that would describe us. When we’re not ordering inventory or curating wardrobe collections, you may find us poolside in our backyard or playing card games with friends & family. Although to some it may seem like we work a lot, we do find time for other things that we also enjoy:
- Sun & Sand - we love all things summer and warm
- Travel & spending time outdoors
- Staying Active – we enjoy walking, bicycling, and the gym
- Tacos & Sushi….mmm mmm yummy!
- Music – we have music piping through our home from the moment we wake up until bedtime nearly every day
- Shopping & Fashion – no surprise here ;)

We are so much alike, Derek&I. We really are. But we’ll let you in on a little secret, there are a few things about us that are actually different.

OUR FAMILY
One of the main reasons for why we do what we do is for our children. We have had the pleasure of raising two amazing children, Anastasia & Alex. Although they are both young adults now, I still call them my “kiddos” and probably always will – no matter how old they are. I also still do Easter baskets and stuff stockings on Christmas Eve and stay up late the night before every holiday to stage a scavenger hunt throughout our home for them. It’s a tradition I started when they were young because the three of us share a love of games, riddles, puzzles, and challenges. We have fun together, we support each other, we have ups, and yes - we also have downs. We are a family – surely not much different from yours.

We are not shy about using the brand we have built; together with our website, social media channels like Facebook & Instagram, and community networks to raise awareness and support causes that matter. We believe that with our professional success comes a social responsibility to “do good in the world”.
Here at derbecca, we have a special place in our hearts for those with special needs. Rebecca’s sister, Cindy, has cerebral palsy. Although our Giving Back Program reaches a diverse population both local & far, we are proud to share that it is strongly focused on supporting those with special needs. This is something that means a lot to us and our family.

SUPPORT IN KIND
VOLUNTEERING
Raising money and donating goods is great. But we know we can do more. That’s why we volunteer our time to events like Night to Shine. Night to Shine is an annual event for people with special needs. It’s a celebration centered all around the guests of honor including activities like a red-carpet entrance, limousine rides, dinner, and dancing. Events like these cannot happen without volunteers and we know first-hand that events like these impact lives not only for one night, but forever.
PARTNER COLLABORATIONS
Making a difference is making a difference. Some are big and some are small. We are taking big steps by partnering with other companies that we believe are also doing good in the world.
By partnering with The Spotlight Project, derbecca is able to help those with disabilities find a place in the workforce. Every bracelet made at The Spotlight Project is made by an employee with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
We strive to carry as many American-made products as possible in our boutique. Many of our clothing partners are from the US along with these accessories & lifestyle brands:
